There was a video from the past year by Mawlana where he mentioned my name. I spent some time for the last two months trying to locate that video. I had to view many videos in search for it, however I couldn’t find it. I prayed that I may find it. Still, I couldn’t. I asked Mawlana’s help. Even then, nothing was found. I must say I was frustrated by my failure. I was more frustrated to why Mawlana was not helping me? At one point I realized, who is the Sheikh and who is the follower? Why am I placing my will on top of Mawlana’s? If He knew there was any goodness in me finding this video, I would have found it. What is the point of putting a request for Mawlana to support my searching efforts? What is the point of spending time looking for something that is only frustrating me and making me push my Sheikh to give me what I want?
I left it. I think the point I reached when I left this matter was way much more crucial than the video it self.
When sheikh Mohamed Efendi arrived this trip he also had a similar experience with people. They also asked him to follow their will and support their point of view and request. He said few approached him demanding outrageous financial requests. Well, he did what he thought was right. As he is the Sheikh now, he follows his heart and this will not necessarily meet people’s expectation. A few of the frustrated ones were blunt enough to express their lack of satisfaction. They even told him, better you leave being a sheikh…!
Between my side of the story and the not so satisfied people’s end of the story, I remembered what Mawlana said;
Best arrangement is, not to arrange.
افضل التدبير هو عدم التدبير.
He said, don’t interfere with your will in the flow of current events.
لا تتدخل بارادتك في مجريات الأمور
I once asked Sheikh Mohamed Efendi, what is the wisdom of our life here in this world?
He said;
It is to realize the honor of witnessing Allah’s power of creation.
To witness does not mean to get involved. Mawlana spoke on many occasions about the highest station of being a witness, shahid known as Martyr. This rank can be achieved if someone died at war or defending his honor. However, it can also be reached if while you are alive, you refrain yourself from imposing your will or wish over the Divine. Then the involvement of your egoistic lower desire is the martyr and you live to only look, witness, and marvel at what Allah Almighty’s will unveils.
Allah almighty created everything and appointed everyone’s provision. He Almighty is fully aware of all and capable and most able to bring change in a time period less than a split of a second. Therefore, every time some one complains, in reality he is asking God to make changes according to his will.
Mawlana once said, for each day one must open a new clean white page. During the day one only observes his daily events being registered on that pure page. When the day is over, turn the page, close it and never open it again. He said, if you do open it, only bad smell comes out of it. Some people go back and open it and insist to write on it the second day’s events. In two or three days the page becomes black and nothing is clear and everything is mixed up. This is why most of the people nowadays are feeling heavy and can’t see clear.
However, there are others who even go further than that. When they are not satisfied by what their Lord destined for them, they complain. They think they can run their life better than their creator. Meaning, they want to write on the preserved tablet as they like and wish for. Their ego’s claim goes way back in human history. When the Egyptian Pharaoh announced:
I am your highest Lord.
انا ربكم الاعلي
Mawlana said; this human hidden attribute is in everyone. And if any person was given the same chance that was granted to Pharaoh he would express the same claim.
Mawlana during his life was criticized, and accused of many false claims. His response was,
جواب الأحمق السكوت
To keep Silent is the right reply to the foolish
Or
ولا يحيق المكر السئ الا بأهله
Deception only brings harm to its doer.
Mawlana said; The Ottoman sultan carried at least the rank of seven saints. Therefore, when they came to bring Sultan Abdelhamid to exile, he didn’t resist. He had more than enough man power to arrest them and remain on the throne however, he knew this door must open. Corruption must spread all over the earth for Imam Mahdi to appear.
Prophet s.a.s informed many of his blessed house hold about the future events that will precede their death. Eventually when these events took place none of his blessed family did anything to change the outcome of their destiny. On the contrary they met their death knowing that everything is written by their Lord therefore, they did not interfere.
Today Sheikh Mohamed Efendi said; I am sitting here to follow and honor my Sheikh’s order, and that’s it. People who told me to leave being the Sheikh will have to wait until I lay in my grave next to Sheikh Nazim’s feet, until then we obey Allah’s order and fear no one else.
Mawlana’s life was guided by his Sheikh’s orders also. Nothing he did or reacted to was from his personal will. The Ottoman sultans ruled the world for 700 years with the highest respect and honor to their Sheikh’s instructions. Before them all the blessed family of Rasul Allah s.a.s were observing the Orders of their blessed prophet.
This is the way of Ahlul-Bayt, sultans, Sheikhs, and believers. Not to use their will to interfere. Rather, they act and react according to clear instructions from their Sheikh.
ما خاب من استشار
The one who consults will not fail.
